Hunza: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed grief over the loss of ten mountaineers, including Nirmal Purja, in an avalanche on Broad Peak. In a message shared on his X handle, he extended condolences to the families and to the governments of China, Nepal, Oman, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar highlighted the tragedy of losing Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi of Hunza, noting that his courage and dedication to mountaineering will be remembered. Dar emphasized that the perseverance and pursuit of excellence demonstrated by the mountaineers reflect the spirit of the sport and will serve as an inspiration for future generations.
The Deputy Prime Minister also praised the efforts of rescue and recovery teams, acknowledging their professionalism under challenging conditions.
