Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Outlines UN Engagement and Diplomatic Efforts

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar addressed the National Assembly, detailing Pakistan’s active participation during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statements on key issues including Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, climate justice, and global financial system reforms.

Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, participation in high-level events and bilateral meetings, and its advocacy for Palestinian and Kashmiri rights. He shared the joint statement from Pakistan and seven Arab-Islamic countries, advocating for humanitarian aid to Gaza, Israeli withdrawal, and a two-state solution.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution, calling it the only viable path to peace, with a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He condemned the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli forces as a violation of international law.

The Deputy Prime Minister also informed the House about Prime Minister Sharif’s meeting with U.S. President Donald J. Trump, alongside Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, discussing counterterrorism, trade expansion, and U.S. investments in various sectors.
