Cholpon-Ata: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed concern over recent regional tensions during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the SCO CFM Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic. The two officials highlighted the importance of dialogue, restraint, and diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace and stability.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions included a review of the evolving regional situation, emphasizing the need to build on the understandings achieved under the Islamabad MoU of June 2026. Both ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding ties between Pakistan and Iran, with the Iranian Foreign Minister acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic support in promoting regional peace and security.

In addition to discussing regional tensions, the Iranian Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for its role in facilitating the safe return of Iranian fishermen and crew members, including those from vessels intercepted by the United States. He acknowledged Islamabad’s coordination efforts with Iranian, U.S., and other authorities to ensure safe transit through Pakistan and return to Iran.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination and regular consultations on mutual interests, reaffirming their commitment to regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
