Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has called for clear and firm timelines to be established for the completion of all initiatives related to the exploration and production (E and P) sector. This directive was issued during the third meeting of the Committee, which was formed by the Prime Minister to devise a comprehensive action plan aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by the E and P sector.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the committee, under Dar’s leadership, assessed the progress of developing an integrated energy plan with the support of renowned international consultants. Furthermore, the committee deliberated on proposed amendments to the OGRA Ordinance that would allow for monthly or quarterly adjustments in gas tariffs. Discussions also covered strategies to optimize gas usage from dedicated fields.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the restructuring plans for the two Sui companies to shift from an asset-based fixed return regime. Enhancements such as digitization and automation of processes to ease regulatory approvals were considered, along with the establishment of a dedicated one-window facilitation service at both federal and provincial levels to streamline operations.
