Deputy PM of Pakistan and UK Foreign Secretary Discuss Enhanced Strategic Partnership


Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq, engaged in crucial talks with UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, focusing on strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations and enhancing regional peace and stability.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the dialogue emphasized the importance of the Pakistan-UK partnership and the desire to elevate their long-standing ties to a strategic level. Mohammad Ishaq Dar expressed his aspirations for a stronger collaboration and highlighted the significant role of the British-Pakistani community in bolstering the relationship between the two countries.



During the meeting, David Lammy congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister on Pakistan’s recent election to the UN Security Council and reassured the UK’s support for Pakistan during its tenure. The discussions also covered a broad spectrum of bilateral relations and regional issues where both countries have a common interest.



Furthermore, both ministers agreed to maintain close communication leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for October 2024, signifying a commitment to further consolidate their ties in the coming years.
