London: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has pledged to enhance Pakistan’s role within the Commonwealth by focusing on boosting intra-Commonwealth trade and furthering sustainable development goals. In discussions with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s intent to be at the forefront of these initiatives.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s dedication to the Commonwealth during his meeting with Secretary-General Scotland. He underscored the importance of advancing the Commonwealth’s youth-focused programs and expressed gratitude for Scotland’s support in setting up the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance Secretariat in Pakistan.
Secretary-General Scotland reflected on the positive experiences from her recent visit to Pakistan and highlighted her commitment to collaborate on tackling climate change issues and enhancing youth empowerment in the country. The dialogue also covered mutual priorities for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled to take place next month in Samoa.
