Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Advocates for OIC Unity Against Islamophobia


Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take collective action against the rise of Islamophobia. Speaking at the Foreign Ministers Preparatory meeting for the 15th Islamic Summit of the OIC in Banjul, The Gambia, Dar highlighted the increasing incidents of discrimination, violence, and negative portrayals of Muslims globally.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Foreign Minister called for the OIC to develop a unified strategy to influence global information networks to ensure fair content regulation concerning blasphemous, anti-Islamic, and Islamophobic content.



Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the rights of the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples, calling for immediate action in Gaza and accountability for Israel’s actions in the region. His remarks also condemned India’s policies in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. During the meeting, Pakistan was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Bureau of Foreign Ministers’ Preparatory Meeting for the OIC Summit.
