Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for prompt measures to guarantee the continuous availability of essential food items at affordable prices. At a meeting held in Islamabad, Dar emphasized the need for better coordination between federal and provincial authorities to tackle issues affecting food supply and pricing across the country.

Dar urged the relevant bodies to enhance their market monitoring practices and take decisive action against hoarding and cartelization, which have been contributing to the disruption of supply chains and inflation of prices. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of protecting the interests of consumers while ensuring that farmers receive fair compensation for their produce.

The government, under Dar’s directive, aims to strike a balance between consumer protection and farmer welfare, ensuring that essential commodities remain within reach for all citizens.
