Karachi: On the 17th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy, Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad honored the memory of the victims and reiterated the People’s Party’s dedication to democracy. The tragedy, which occurred on October 18, 2007, resulted in the loss of over 180 lives and left hundreds injured during a procession welcoming Shaheed Benazir Bhutto back to Pakistan.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Deputy Mayor Murad emphasized the enduring impact of the sacrifices made by the People’s Party and its supporters in the pursuit of democratic values. He stated that these sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and that the party continues to strive for the strength of the country and the consolidation of democracy. Murad also highlighted the resilience of the party in the face of adversity and the threats against its leadership, including the late Benazir Bhutto, who showed remarkable bravery on her return to Pakistan.
Murad paid tribute to those who lost their lives in one of Pakistan’s worst acts of terrorism, asserting that the People’s Party remains committed to the mission set forth by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He vowed that the party would continue to uphold the rights of the people and honor the legacy of its martyrs.
