KARACHI: Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities to people with disabilities (PWDs), highlighting ongoing government efforts to support their integration into society. Speaking at a seminar titled “Right of PWDs & The Role of Legal Fraternity” held at Jinnah Auditorium by the Karachi Bar Association, Murad detailed projects aimed at improving the lives of PWDs, including a planned city in Korangi with an initial allocation of 5 billion rupees.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the seminar was organized by the Youth Person Development Organization and the Karachi Bar Association, with support from various stakeholders. It was attended by Member Provincial Assembly Shariq Jamal, YPDO President Sikander Ahmed, Vice President Nighat Naseer, FFP President Abdullah Ehsan, Nusrat Trust’s Mufti Abu Ahad, SAC Munir Ahmed Malik, KBA General Secretary Iftikhar Ali Chana, among others.
Deputy Mayor Murad highlighted the Sindh government’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities, aligning with the vision of the Pakistan People’s Party. The government has allocated 2 billion rupees this year to organizations working for the welfare of PWDs, aiming to foster their participation in all sectors. Murad stressed the importance of these initiatives in ensuring that PWDs are not viewed as burdens but as integral members of society.
