Dense Fog to Persist in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Sindh; Cold Weather Expected Across Pakistan

Islamabad, A weather warning has been issued for persistent dense fog over the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh throughout this week, with citizens advised to exercise caution. Additionally, day temperatures in most parts of Punjab are expected to remain below normal due to the dense fog conditions.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the current synoptic situation shows continental air prevailing over most parts of the country. For Tuesday, cold and cloudy weather is anticipated in most of the upper parts of the country, with very cold conditions in northern areas and north Balochistan. Dense fog and smog are expected to continue in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

The forecast for Wednesday remains similar, with mainly cold and cloudy weather predicted for the upper parts of the country and very cold weather in northern areas and north Balochistan. The dense fog and smog are likely to persist in the same regions as mentioned for Tuesday.

The past 24 hours have seen cold and dry weather prevailing over most parts of the country, and very cold conditions in the northern areas. Dense fog and smog were observed in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh. Light rain was reported in north Balochistan and south Punjab, with recorded rainfall in Balochistan (Kalat 03, Barkhan 02) and Punjab (Rahimyar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan 02). The lowest recorded temperatures today were in Leh and Skardu at -08°C, followed by Gupis and Kalam at -06°C, Gilgit at -05°C, Astore at 04°C, and Dir and Zhob at -03°C.
