Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has issued a weather warning for dense fog over the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Sindh, and Islamabad for this week. Citizens in these areas are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, indicates that continental air is currently prevailing over most parts of the country. A westerly system is expected to enter Balochistan tomorrow and may affect various parts of the region until the 5th of January.
For Wednesday, the forecast predicts mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions in northern areas and north Balochistan. Dense fog or smog is likely to persist in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, light rain or drizzle is expected in isolated areas of western Balochistan and the coastal regions of Makran.
The weather on Thursday is anticipated to remain mostly cold and dry across the country, with continued very cold conditions in the northern parts. Dense fog and smog are again expected in the same regions as Wednesday. Cloudy weather with rain and snow over the hills is forecasted for most parts of Balochistan.
Reflecting on the past 24 hours, the weather was cold and dry in most parts of Pakistan, particularly very cold in the northern areas and northern Balochistan. Dense fog and smog were prevalent over the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad. Dalbandin recorded 07mm of rain during this period. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today were Leh at -12°C, Skardu at -10°C, and Kalam, Gupis, Gilgit at -6°C.
