Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Parts of Pakistan; Cold Weather to Prevail

Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre has issued a warning for dense fog over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh, expected to continue through this week. Citizens in these regions are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, a trough of westerly wave is currently influencing the weather in the western parts of Pakistan, expected to persist in the upper regions until Tuesday morning. The forecast for Monday predicts mainly cold and cloudy weather in most of the upper and western parts of the country, with very cold conditions in the northern areas. Rain, and snow over the mountains, is expected in northern Balochistan and western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while light rain or drizzle may occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir during the evening or night. Dense fog and smog are also likely to continue in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

The weather outlook for Tuesday remains similar, with cold and cloudy conditions in most upper parts of the country and very cold weather in northern areas and north Balochistan. The persistent dense fog and smog in the plains are likely to continue.

Dense fog and smog were reported in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad. Rain and snow were also observed in Balochistan, with specified rainfall and snowfall measurements in various regions. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today include Leh at -11°C, Skardu at -9°C, and Kalam at -6°C, among others.
