Denmark Praises Pakistan’s Shift Towards Clean Energy

Islamabad, Pakistan: Denmark has expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to transition to cleaner energy solutions.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the remarks came during a meeting between Denmark’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jakob Linulf, and Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Energy, Muhammad Ali, in Islamabad. The officials reviewed the progress of the Danish Energy Transmission Initiative (DETI) project, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the energy sectors of the two countries. The project’s objective is to offer guidance on reducing the impact of power demand fluctuations during summer and winter and to bolster energy supplies while ensuring system stability. Both parties also agreed to analyze Pakistan’s current transmission and distribution network to identify potential issues and outline recommendations for integrating more renewable energy. Their discussion further touched upon the upcoming Conference of Parties (COP-28) meeting in Dubai. The Minister for Energy expressed Pakistan’s aspirations to secure substantial green investments, noting the government’s recent approval of a National Electricity Plan targeting 40% renewable energy by 2025 and 60% by 2030. He recognized Denmark’s support as pivotal in aiding Pakistan to meet its Climate Change and Sustainable Development Goals.
