Denmark and Pakistan Discuss Enhanced Cooperation and Refugee Welfare.


ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, H.E Jakob Linulf, met with Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and Kashmir Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam, to discuss mutual matters of interest. The meeting focused on the welfare of Afghan refugees and explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation. UNHCR’s Representative in Pakistan, Philippa Candler, also accompanied the Ambassador. Secretary SAFRON Zafar Hasan and Joint Secretary Agha Waseem Ahmad were present during the discussions. Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations, increase high-level contacts, and explore new areas of cooperation.



According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam highlighted the potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Denmark, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, and vocational training for Afghan refugees. He expressed appreciation for Denmark’s support in addressing refugee issues and emphasized the need for developing effective solutions to manage the Afghan refugee situation while bolstering Pakistan’s socio-economic resilience. The Federal Minister also pointed out the financial challenges faced by Pakistan in hosting Afghan refugees and acknowledged the international community’s support, stressing the importance of continued international solidarity.



Ambassador Jakob Linulf expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s recent decision to extend the validity of refugee Proof of Registration cards (POR). He commended Pakistan for its longstanding efforts in hosting millions of Afghan refugees and recognized the country’s significant humanitarian contributions.
