Jammu, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) activists led by party Chairman Harsh Dev Singh and General Secretary Yash Paul Kundal held a protest and torched the effigy of the BJP government in Jammu. Agitated over what they called the biased treatment perpetuated against Jammu region by the successive Indian government particularly the BJP regime staged the demonstration at Jammu Press Club. The protestors raised slogans against the Modi government.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev cautioned the Modi regime to refrain from taking Jammu region for granted. “Stop treating Jammu as a colony of Kashmir and New Delhi leaders. Stop looking at Jammu region with a jaundiced eye. We are equal stakeholders in the political landscape of J and K and pampering of one region at the cost of the other is wholly un-acceptable. It could have serious ramifications,” he Singh. He sought parity between the two regions of Kashmir and Jammu till the time the status of statehood was granted to Jammu region.
A large number of people from Jammu region led by former member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Balwant Singh Mankotia, also staged a demonstration at Tawi Bridge in Jammu reiterating demand to make the region as separate state. On the other hand, senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta in a statement said in the upcoming all-party meeting called by Narendra Modi, he will voice for the concerns of Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs living as second class citizens in Valley besides discrimination with Jammu by the successive governments.
The President of IIOJK chapter of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), SR Majotra, addressing a press conference in Jammu expressed strong resentment for not receiving invitation from Indian Prime Minister’s Office for all party meet. He strongly condemned the anti-Dalit and anti-poor decisions of the Indian government. Ikkjutt Jammu (United Jammu), a Jammu-based political party, has slammed the Modi government for what it called “surrendering to Kashmir-centric parties”. Party president Ankur Sharma said that the Modi government is committing a big blunder by inviting the Kashmiri parties.
