Jammu, January 11, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, people held protests in Jammu against the anti-people policies of the authorities. People took out a massive protest rally in Jammu city against the power cuts in winter season. The protesters were carrying oil lamps and ‘Kangri’ to represent the fact that these things have to be used by the citizens in order to attain light and keep themselves warm in peak of winter season as Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to provide power to the people as per schedule due to which general public is suffering badly.
Rehbar-e-Janglat (ReJ) employees who have been holding a sit-in protest outside the office of BJP in Jammu for the past many days continue their protest in favour of their demands. These protesting employees, who are BSc/ MSc Forestry and even some PhD, were engaged under Rehbar-e-Janglat Scheme on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem and Rehbar-e-Zarat.
The protesters pointed out that for REZ the minimum qualification is also BSc/MSc Agriculture. But unfortunately, the people at the helm of affairs in the IIOJK administration have placed them in the lower pay grade of Rs 5200-20200 while their counterparts in REZ have been placed in the higher grade of Rs 9300-34800. They pointed out that they have submitted several representations to the higher authorities and even struggling since 2017 but this discrimination has not be removed by the authorities. They urged the authorities to provide them justice and remove pay anomaly in their grade pay.
Meanwhile, the Safai Saathis (sanitary workers) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) continued their protest on the 3rd day, today. They raised slogans in favour of their demands. They said the JMC Mayor, Rajinder Sharma has recently announced that 600 JMC workers have been regularised but there is nothing on ground regarding that. They said for 600 posts of Safai Saathis forms were filled in 2019 and these posts were advertised in 2017 and interviews were also conducted for these posts but so far the selection list for these posts has not been declared.
