Srinagar, June 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): Protest demonstrations were held in different areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the anti-people policies of the authorities. Residents of Nigli area of north Kashmir’s Sopore town protested against the Water and Power Department for its failure to provide them drinking water. Scores of women took to the streets and blocked the Tarzoo-Sopore road in Nigli area to raise their concern on the water crisis in the locality. The protesters raised slogans denouncing the concerned department’s inefficiency.
The inhabitants, including women, of the Surankote town of Poonch district in Jammu region held a demonstration against the same department, demanding restoration of water supply in the town. The protestors blocked the road, and raised slogans against the administration. They said the people of the town have been suffering due to non-availability of water supply for the last 10 days and the department has failed to restore it, despite repeated requests.
Meanwhile, angered by the extremely slow pace of work on a road in Chenani area of Udhampur district in Jammu, local residents protested against the authorities. Shouting slogans, the villagers demanded immediate completion of the construction and black topping of the road.
