Srinagar, January 12, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protest demonstrations were held in Srinagar and Jammu against the anti-people policies of the authorities. Scores of transporters assembled at the Regional Transport Office in Srinagar and staged a protest demonstration against delay in re-registration of their vehicles. They said the process is pending for a year due to which their livelihood is affected.
The transporters while holding placards and raising slogans in favour of their demand said that they want re-registration of the vehicles that they have purchased from outside Srinagar. Many transporters said that they reached out to higher officials, but no action was taken. Rehbar-e-Khel teachers’ protest outside the BJP Headquarters at Trikuta Nagar in Jammu continues on 24th consecutive day, today. They are staging a peaceful protest in favour of their demands including enhancement of the monthly salary and reduction of probation period from the 7 year to 5 years.
Meanwhile, the protest of Safai Saathis (Sanitary Workers) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) continues on 4th day, today. The protesting workers are on the Kaam Chhoro Hartal that started on Wednesday as their meeting with Commissioner JMC failed to reach any conclusion. The protesting workers said that for 600 posts of Safai Saathis forms were filled in 2019 and these posts were advertised in 2017 and interviews were also conducted for these posts but so far the selection list for these posts has not been declared.
