Demos against blasphemous remarks: Internet services in West Bengal’s Howrah suspended 

Calcutta, June 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In the wake of series of protests against the blasphemous remarks on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the authorities in the Indian state of West Bengal have suspended internet services in Howrah district till 6 am on June 13.

The move comes following massive demonstrations against the blasphemous remarks about the holy Prophet (PBUH) by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal. While on Friday, a massive crowd also gathered to protest at Park Circus in Kolkata adding to the resentment against the two BJP officials.

Meanwhile, in Indian state of Punjab, massive protests demanding the arrest of blasphemer BJP leaders were also held in various regions. Additionally, outrage against Sharma and Jindal was also witnessed in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh where thousands of people protested against their derogatory statements on the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
