Jammu, April 28, 2022 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protest demonstrations were held in different areas against the anti-people policies of the authorities. Congress party held protest rally in Kathua town of the Jammu region against the BJP-led Indian government for constant hike in fuel prices and unscheduled power curtailment in IIOJK. The rally started from Ram Leela Chowk and culminated at sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) office, Hiranagar.
The protestors demanded of the authorities to control the prices of the essential commodity by reducing the hike in petrol, diesel and natural gas and stopp the unscheduled power curtailment which made the life of commoners a hell.
A protest was staged in Jammu city against sub-standard work done in the repair of Peer Mitha lane. It was led by Gurmeet Singh, President Beopar Mandal and District general secretary Congress. The protesters requested the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, to take strict action against the contractor responsible for the sub-standard work and stop his payments.
Several men and women engaged in various health institutions were detained after they staged a protest against their termination and demanded continuation of their services. The police acted against the health workers shortly after they staged a sit-in protest near main Tawi Bridge in the heart of the city and tried to block the vehicular movement. They raised slogans to press for the continuation of their services. Several workers, both men and women, were detained and whisked away in a police bus.
