Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah stressed the urgent need for restoring statehood to address the aspirations and grievances of the Kashmiri people.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, speaking in Srinagar, Chaudhary emphasized that the restoration of statehood and special status is a constitutional right of the region’s residents and is key to achieving peace and development. He noted that the downgrading to a Union territory has caused significant pain and affected the self-esteem of the Kashmiri people.
Farooq Abdullah echoed these sentiments, urging respect for the people’s aspirations and the restoration of their constitutional rights. “We hope the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir’s people will be respected,” he stated.
Both leaders highlighted that restoring statehood is crucial for rebuilding trust, fostering development, and ensuring long-term peace in the territory.
