Demand for initiation of case under war crimes against India for Sikh genocide

Islamabad, January 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Operation Blue Star in 1984 marked the beginning of a policy of oppression against Indian Sikhs demanding a separate homeland in the name of Khalistan. According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service, Sikhs’ fight against India is actually a war against Hindutva hegemony while the fact is Indian army’s 1984 assault on Golden Temple was a brazen act of state-sponsored terrorism against Sikhs.

In violation of sanctity of religious places, Indian army reduced to rubble the Sikhs’ holiest shrine during the operation. Besides, 30,000 Sikhs were brutally murdered following assassination of India’s the-then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.

The report mentioned that Sikhs were hunted in their homes, where they were hacked and burned alive by Hinduta forces. The massacre of Sikhs during and after the Operation Blue Star exposed so-called secular face of India, it added. The report cited the recently passed resolution by New Jersey Senate condemning the 1984 Sikh genocide in India.

The Operation Blue Star is indicative of the fact that Hindutva brigade is hell bent on purging India of its minorities including Sikhs. Brave Sikhs will never forget the desecration of their holiest site by Indian army in 1984. The report recommended initiation of case under war crimes against India for Sikh genocide in 1984.
