Srinagar, February 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC) has said that the Delimitation Commission has scripted a story of disempowerment and disenfranchisement of Kashmir Valley and far-flung areas of Jammu. The NC in a statement issued in Srinagar, objecting to commission’s proposals said, the panel has arbitrarily devised some unknown criteria while apportioning and identifying increased seven seats.

“It has selectively applied the criteria so fixed and thereafter allotted seats compromising the fundamental principle of population as the main criteria,” it said. The object of the delimitation exercise, it said, is to ensure the people have equal representation as is mandated by the fundamental principles of democracy.

The NC urged the Commission to stop exercise forthwith pending final adjudication and disposal of the batch of petition questioning vires and constitutional validity of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019. The Act was promulgated by Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government after repealing the special status of IIOJK and dividing it into two union territories on August 05, 2019.
