Delhi HC adjourns hearing on Aasiya Andrabi’s plea against property seizure

New Delhi, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Delhi High Court has adjourned the hearing on the pleas by two illegally detained Kashmiri leader and Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associate Fehmeeda Sofi, against Indian dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) for seizure of their house and car in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

On the request of the counsel for appellants, the court adjourned the matter for April 26. Last year, the NIA had opposed the appeal moved by Aasiya Andrabi and others, saying it was established that premises have been used by the Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) for holding meetings to commit anti-India and pro-freedom activities. Aasiya Andrabi is the chief of DeM, which advocates freedom of IIOJK from Indian illegal occupation.

In 2019, the NIA issued attachments orders for the seizure of Aasiya Andrabi’s house and Fehmeeda Sofi’s car to punish them for their role in the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. The two Kashmiri women leaders have been under illegal detention for the last over five years. They are presently lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.
