New Delhi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Delhi High Court has listed for August 03, 2023, the plea of illegally detained Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali challenging charges framed by the trial court against him in a false case registered by India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Division bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant Singh on Tuesday while deferring the matter said, “Let reply be filed by the NIA. Last year in May, the NIA Court (Trial Court) had framed charges against him and others under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and UAPA.
The court had also formally framed charges against the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders including APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Altaf Ahmad Shah (Shaheed), Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal and Peer Saifullah. Muhammad Yasin Malik was later sentenced to life imprisonment in the same fake case.
