Lahore, December 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation led by Chairman Kisan Etihad Chaudhry Khalid Hussain called on Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal by at 90 Shahara Quaid-e-Azam, in which the prices of wheat, Bhai Safai, availability of fertilizers and other problems faced by farmers were discussed. The delegation demanded to increase the support price of wheat and legislation to protect the interests of farmers.

Speaking to the delegation, Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said that the Punjab government stands with the farmers and will solve their problems related to Punjab on a priority basis. Payment to the sugarcane farmers was ensured through the reforms in the Act.

The department of industry and commerce has been directed to prevent the reduction in sugarcane weight. He said that the demand of the farmers regarding increasing the support price of wheat will be placed in the cabinet meeting and the complaints of the farmers regarding Bhal Safi of Canals will be resolved. If a canal in Punjab is cleaned only in paper, action will be taken against those responsible.

Mian Aslam Iqbal said that the seller’s license of fake seeds and spray will be cancelled and a case will be registered against him. A control room will be set up to ensure the availability and sale of Fertilizers at fixed prices.

He said that the grievances of farmers regarding seeds and sprays will be redressed in the consumer court within the stipulated period. Secretary Agriculture, CCPO Lahore, and officers of Agriculture, Food, and Irrigation departments were also present in the meeting. The delegation of Kisan Etihad included Vice Chairman Mian Ghulam Mustafa Wattu, Central President Mian Umair Masood, Provincial President Muhammad Hussain and others.
