New York: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, speaking at the UN’s Summit of the Future, emphasized that sustainable development cannot be achieved as long as tragedies like Gaza continue, which he attributed to actions by the developed world.

He stressed the importance of revising the sovereign debt architecture to make it more equitable and called for the adoption of an equitable international tax regime.

He emphasized the necessity of providing preferential treatment to these countries and warned against the rise of new forms of environmental protectionism which could hinder their progress.
Furthermore, Asif lauded the adoption of the U.N’s Pact for the Future, describing it as a manifest expression of the international community’s collective determination to address global challenges.
