Decision to take strict action on complaints received against police officers and officers 

Lahore, January 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Immediate steps should be taken to address the grievances of the citizens received through 1787 IGP Complaint Center and Prime Minister’s Delivery Portal. IG Punjab said that he would personally review the complaints received at the 1787 IG Complaint Center and action taken on them on weekly basis.

He said that in the district where irresponsible behaviour was shown in resolving grievances of citizens, the supervisory officers would be held accountable and strict action would be taken against the liable.

IG Punjab said that in order to make the 1787 IG Complaint Cell more efficient, recruitment for the vacant posts should be completed as soon as possible. IG Punjab directed that strict action should be taken against the officials and officers who do not register or cause delay in FIR. IGP ordered to issue notices to that districts.

IG Punjab said that reply would be sought from field officers of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and other cities. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that action should be taken against the officials and officers involved in corruption under zero tolerance and the black sheep involved in corruption and abuse of power should be expelled from department.

He said that the complaints received on the Prime Minister’s Delivery Portal should also be resolved on time and the problems of overseas Pakistanis should be resolved by the supervisory officers themselves. He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting at the Central Police Office today to make the response and action of police department on public complaints more effective.

IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that no complaint should be closed of office in the Khuli Katchehry of IG office till the issue of applicant is fully resolved. He said that under the open door policy, all the officers should maintain close liaison with the citizens and provide relief to the poor, deserving, women and senior citizens on priority basis.

IG Punjab directed the Internal Accountability Branch to conduct surprise visits and secret inspections in police stations and offices and said that all inquiries should be completed with full transparency and impartiality. The corrupt elements found guilty in the inquiries should be removed from the department, he added. The meeting was attended by other officers including DIG Internal Accountability Branch, AIG Complaints and AIG Inspection.
