Deadly Roof Collapse and Widespread Damage in Bannu Following Severe Storm

Bannu: A severe thunderstorm on the night of August 20, 2024, led to tragic incidents in Bannu District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including a roof collapse that resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the storm caused significant destruction across the district, particularly in the tehsil of Domel. The collapse resulted in the deaths of Naeema Bibi and Saima, daughters of Bakht Ullah, and injuries to seven others from the same community. The injured include family members and neighbors who were caught in the structural collapse during the storm.

Further damage was reported in the Miryan area, where multiple homes suffered from broken walls and structural failures, affecting livestock as well. Residents such as Bas Pari and several others experienced considerable losses, with damages ranging from collapsed walls to the destruction of two rooms and livestock fatalities.

The local administration and disaster response teams are currently assessing the situation and coordinating relief efforts to support the affected families and repair damaged infrastructure. The community is also rallying to provide immediate aid and support to those impacted by the storm.
