Karachi, Today marks the final day for candidates to file nomination papers for the upcoming general elections, as per the schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). This deadline is crucial for those aiming to contest in the elections for the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP will release the initial list of candidates tomorrow. The subsequent process includes the scrutiny of nomination papers starting this Sunday and continuing until the 30th of this month.
The ECP has also set a timeline for the appeals process regarding the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers. Appeals can be filed until January 3, with decisions expected by January 10. The Commission will then publish a revised list of candidates on January 11, allowing candidates to withdraw their papers by January 12.
Electoral symbols will be allotted to candidates on January 13, paving the way for the general elections scheduled for February 8. This timeline is part of the ECP’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and orderly electoral process, setting the stage for the next phase of Pakistan’s democratic journey.
