DC, who issued show-cause notices against Muslim entry ban in Nuh villages, transferred

Chandigarh, August 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): In an apparently a vindictive action, the BJP government in the Indian state of Haryana has transferred the Muslim Deputy Commissioner of Rewari district, Mohammad Imran Raza. The Haryana government transferred Mohammad Imran Raza and 15 other Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. DC Mohammad Imran Raza had issued show-cause notices to dozens of Hindutva sarpanches and panchayat members for passing resolutions barring the entry of Muslims to their villages following the anti-Muslim violence in Nuh district.

Imran Raza, who had taken over as Rewari’s DC in April, has been transferred as DC, Jind. Earlier, he had confirmed that several gram panchayats and sarpanches have been issued the showcause notices under Section 51 of the Haryana Gram Panchayati Raj Act, which pertains to suspension and removal of a sarpanch or panch.
