Dar Acknowledges China’s Support Amid Regional Tensions


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar praised China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a high-level diplomatic meeting with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China.



The meeting comes at a crucial time following a recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India. Both officials emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law to maintain regional peace and stability, according to a release from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.



Dar highlighted Pakistan’s inherent right and capability to protect its territorial sovereignty and the security of its citizens. He also addressed India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, urging the international community to take serious note of what he described as an illegal and provocative act.



The Foreign Minister reiterated that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions is essential for achieving lasting peace in South Asia.



Dar expressed appreciation for the role of the International Department of the Communist Party of China in enhancing ties between the Communist Party of China and Pakistan’s political parties, which he noted is significant in strengthening bilateral understanding.



As Pakistan and China prepare to celebrate the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations on May 21, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to preserving their “ironclad” friendship and ensuring its continuation for future generations.



During the meeting, both leaders agreed to deepen connections between the political parties of Pakistan and the Communist Party of China.



The deputy prime minister acknowledged China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and core interests. Liu Jianchao affirmed that as an all-weather strategic cooperative partner and ironclad friend, China would continue to prioritize its relationship with Pakistan.
