Dalit Youth Beaten in Rajasthan Over Theft Allegation


Barmer, Rajasthan: A Dalit youth, Shrawan Kumar Meghwal, was tied upside down to a tree and beaten by upper caste Hindus in Gudamalani town, Barmer district, Rajasthan, following accusations of motorcycle theft.



According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, a video of the 25-year-old victim pleading for mercy has caused outrage on social media. The disturbing footage has drawn widespread condemnation and highlighted ongoing issues of caste-based violence in the region.



In response to the incident, Lok Sabha MP Chandra Shekhar Azad expressed his condemnation, describing the violent act as a stark reminder of the continued atrocities faced by Dalits in India. Azad criticized the gap between political promises of justice and the harsh realities experienced by marginalized communities.



The event has reignited discussions on caste discrimination and the need for more effective measures to ensure justice and equality in India.
