Czech Republic Ambassador and Karachi Mayor Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Karachi: Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Ladislav Stienhubel, met with Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, at the Baldia Uzma Karachi headquarters on Monday to discuss mutual interests and bilateral relations. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in fields such as investment, energy, tourism, and training.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab highlighted Karachi’s role as Pakistan’s industrial and business hub, emphasizing the city’s potential for investment opportunities. He expressed the provincial government’s support in attracting foreign cooperation to develop Karachi’s industrial zones, aiming to stabilize the economy through increased exports. Mayor Wahab stated that projects involving foreign participation would benefit both nations and that Karachi seeks to offer its citizens facilities comparable to those in developed cities.

Ambassador Stienhubel acknowledged Karachi’s significance as a major business center in Pakistan, expressing optimism about future cooperation between Pakistan and the Czech Republic. He conveyed well wishes from his country for Karachi’s development and highlighted potential mutual agreements, particularly in technology transfer and infrastructure. The Ambassador also showed interest in the history of the Council Hall, where Mayor Wahab detailed the inclusive representation policies of the current council, including seats for transgenders under the Pakistan People’s Party’s policy.

The meeting underscored the importance of business delegations and mutual cooperation as avenues to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
