Balochistan: The Field Enforcement Unit (FEU) in Rakhni, operating under the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Quetta, announced a significant interception of smuggled goods, seizing a large consignment of foreign-origin cigarettes valued at Rs. 38.5 million.
Acting on credible intelligence, customs officials stopped a Hino truck, with registration number TTD-853, near Rakhni. The truck, which was purportedly transporting coal, was found to contain 188 cartons of smuggled cigarettes upon inspection.
The market value of the seized cigarettes stands at Rs. 23.5 million, while the vehicle utilized in the smuggling operation is valued at Rs. 15 million. Consequently, the total value of the seizure amounts to Rs. 38.5 million.
Following the discovery, the confiscated goods and the vehicle were transferred to the customs warehouse. Legal proceedings will be conducted under the Customs Act of 1969.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) praised the Rakhni enforcement team for their vigilance and professionalism. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combating smuggling, safeguarding national revenue, and promoting legal trade within Pakistan.
