Imphal: Authorities in Manipur have reinstated a curfew across several districts amid mounting tensions and recent clashes involving students and Indian security forces. The move aims to stabilize the region which has seen significant unrest.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Imphal Valley has been under a strict security watch and curfew for several days. The situation further deteriorated after confrontations between local students and security personnel. In response, two major districts, predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community, have been completely sealed off, with enhanced curfew measures now in place.
The Kuki organization has declared an indefinite protest against the government and Indian forces, set to begin on Friday. This protest has prompted the closure of educational institutions in the affected districts, adding to the community’s growing frustrations.
This period of heightened security and conflict follows earlier violent engagements in the region, where separatist groups reportedly used advanced tactics, including rockets and drones, against Indian forces. The ongoing instability underscores the complex and volatile dynamics within Manipur, as both local and national authorities struggle to restore peace.
