Curfew in Doda, Kishtwar enters fifth day today as Jammu witnesses protests against blasphemous remarks 

Jammu, June 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Curfew continued for the fifth consecutive day on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda and Kishtwar towns of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir amid a peaceful protest was staged in Jammu city over blasphemous remarks on Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and another BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal.

The occupation authorities decided to continue curfew restrictions imposed under Section 144 of the CrPc in the Muslim dominated towns in the name of maintaining law and order. As heavy deployment continued in the two towns, there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere.

Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) while condemning the remarks made by the former BJP spokesperson has appealed for communal harmony in the territory. The people should not allow elements who are against the peace in Jammu and want to create differences among the communities, the JMF said in a statement.

Meanwhile, protesters assembled at Gujjar Nagar, a Muslim-dominated locality, of the Jammu city and staged the protest against the blasphemer BJP leaders. Additional policemen were rushed to the area as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. The officials said the protesters, who were demanding Sharma’s arrest, dispersed peacefully after their demonstration.
