Curbs on Muharram processions, use of force on mourners in IIOJK denounced 

Srinagar, August 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the curbs on Muharram processions and arrest of mourners by Indian police after subjecting them to brute force.

Hurriyat leader and the President of Jammu and Kashmir Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Maulana Masroor Abbas, in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the strong terms the use of lethal force on the participants of a Muharram procession and arrest of mourners at Jahangir Chowk in Srinagar by Indian police on Tuesday. He said that such actions will vitiate the already volatile situation in the occupied territory. He demanded immediate release of all illegally detained mourners.

The Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement termed the restrictions on Muharram processions, use of brute force on mourners and media men by Indian police in Srinagar as the worst display of state terrorism. He paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who sacrificed their lives in Karbala.

Jammu and Kashmir Mass Moment Secretary Information, Shabbir Ahmed, in a statement termed the curbs on Muharram processions, subjecting of processionists to violence and arrest of mourners as interference in the religious affairs of the Muslims of the occupied territory. He said that Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government was not allowing the IIOJK people to perform their religious obligations. He called upon the UN and world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the violation of the basic rights of the Kashmiri people and denial of religious freedom to them by India.

The Vice Chairman of Tehreek-e-Fikr-o-Astiqad, Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah, in a statement in Islamabad also strongly denounced the use of brute force by Indian police on Muharram mourners in Srinagar. He termed the police action as illegal and inhuman.
