Islamabad: The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Islamabad, Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, has instructed traffic police officers to intensify their efforts in managing traffic and enforcing laws to ensure smoother commutes for the city’s residents. In a recent meeting with field officers, Virk emphasized the need for stricter enforcement against traffic violations and improved public engagement regarding road safety education.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, Virk held discussions with the SP Traffic and Zonal DSPs, who were also present during the meeting. The CTO stressed the importance of maintaining civility and offering assistance to citizens on the roads. His directives highlighted the dual approach of reducing traffic violations through increased vigilance while also focusing on minimizing ticket issuance by educating drivers more effectively about traffic rules and road safety.
The briefing underscored a significant shift towards enhancing the effectiveness of traffic management through education rather than penalties alone. Virk’s strategy involves informing drivers about existing traffic laws and the essentials of road safety to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of the city’s populace.
“Our goal is to protect the lives and property of citizens while ensuring a smooth traffic flow,” Virk stated, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement and public cooperation in achieving these objectives. The initiative aims to foster a cooperative relationship between the traffic police and the community, ultimately gaining public trust through consistent and fair law enforcement.
