Crackdown on Professional Beggars Amplifies in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, In an intensified effort to rid the city of organized begging, the Islamabad Capital Police have embarked on a crackdown against professional beggars and those who manage them.

As reported by Islamabad Capital Police, this intensified operation follows a mandate by the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan. He has instructed all zonal DPOs to act decisively against professional beggars and their handlers within their jurisdiction and to initiate legal proceedings against them. Furthermore, the ICCPO has declared that parents who willingly send their children into the clutches of these criminals will also face legal repercussions. The police have identified some professional beggars engaging in other criminal activities, further exacerbating concerns. The ongoing operation has already resulted in the arrest of 91 professional beggars this month, with legal cases filed under the beggar act. The public is urged to play their part by refraining from supporting these professional beggars and is encouraged to alert the police regarding any suspicious activity via Pucar-15 to collaboratively eliminate this menace from Islamabad.
