Quetta: On the orders of the High Court Balochistan, a concerted effort was launched to tackle the entry of dilapidated buses, motorcycle trolleys, illegal rickshaws, and trucks into the city during daylight hours. This initiative was carried out under the directions of Secretary Transport Balochistan Hayat Kakar and Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafqat, and was supervised by Secretary Regional Transport Authority Quetta Division Manzoor Ahmed.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, three trucks were impounded for entering the city during the day, with participation from the staff of Secretary RTA Quetta, Traffic, and Levies Force. Additionally, 71 vehicles were fined for lacking fitness certificates and driving licenses. Secretary RTA Quetta emphasized the serious traffic issues caused by illegal rickshaws and motorcycle trolleys, stressing the strict enforcement of traffic rules and the imposition of heavy fines on violators.
He further stated that faulty, cancelled, and dilapidated local buses would not be permitted on the roads, and drivers are required to carry licenses, permits, and necessary documents at all times. There is a complete daytime ban on the entry of large vehicles in the city due to potential traffic jams and accidents, and the traffic police have been directed to take action against any violations. The crackdown on illegal rickshaws, motorcycle trolleys, and overcrowded buses will continue unabated.
