CPNE Delegation Addresses Print Media Challenges with Principal Information Officer

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:In a thorough dialogue with the Principal Information Officer (PIO) Dr. Tariq Mehmood Khan, a delegation from the Council of Pakistan Newspapers’ Editors (CPNE), headed by its Senior Vice President Mr. Anwar Sajidi and Secretary General Aijaz ul Haq, convened today in Islamabad to discuss the numerous challenges and obstacles confronting the print media industry in Pakistan, as stated in a press release by PID. Financial issues were given a particular emphasis during the meeting.

Dr. Tariq Mehmood recognized the crucial role of print media amidst the emergence of various new media platforms and lauded its endeavours in propounding government policies, initiatives, and public issues. Assurances to prioritize and address the challenges presented by the delegation were provided by the PIO, who also received an extension of full support and cooperation from the delegation in disseminating government policies and programs. The meeting saw participation from editors of national and regional newspapers across the country, including Kazim Khan, Hamid Hussain Abidi, Aamer Mahmood, Maqsood Yousufi, Ghulam Nabi Chandio, and Tahir Farooq.
