New Delhi, Brinda Karat, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of using religion as a tool to divide people for electoral gains.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Karat criticized the BJP and RSS for attempting to create divisions among people on the basis of religion, which she described as serving their selfish political interests. “The BJP and the RSS, who do not believe in the Constitution of India, are trying to drive a wedge between people in the name of religion for their selfish political interests,” she stated. Karat emphasized the importance of defeating the BJP in elections to prevent further division.
In her statement, Karat also accused the BJP and RSS of attempting to transform India’s historical narrative into one that is communally divisive. She further alleged that the BJP-led Indian government is prioritizing the needs of large corporate entities over the interests of the working class and the general populace.
Karat’s statements reflect ongoing tensions in Indian politics, where religion and communal identity continue to be contentious issues. The allegations by the CPI-M leader highlight concerns about the manipulation of religious sentiments in political processes and the potential impact on social harmony and democracy in India.
