Karachi, Murtaza Solangi, the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has articulated the profound impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Pakistan’s socio-economic landscape. Speaking at the 8th China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Media Forum in Islamabad, he emphasized the pivotal role CPEC has played in addressing the country’s energy crisis and infrastructure challenges since its inception in 2013.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Solangi underscored the transformation brought about by CPEC, particularly in terms of energy and economic stability. He pointed out that before the corridor’s implementation, Pakistan grappled with severe issues such as extensive power blackouts, a significant electricity deficit, and substantial economic losses. The Minister highlighted the timely intervention of CPEC, instilling hope and confidence among the Pakistani people.
Solangi elaborated on the multifaceted nature of CPEC, noting that it is not merely an infrastructure project. Since 2013, CPEC has created over 236,000 jobs, with projections of generating 1.2 million direct jobs in the future. This growth is crucial for local workforce development and in addressing regional disparities. The Minister also mentioned CPEC’s substantial contribution to Pakistan’s economic growth rate, marking it as a significant factor in the country’s recent development trajectory.
Furthermore, Minister Solangi stressed the responsibility of the media in shaping public perception of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He called for objective reporting, emphasizing the media’s crucial role in countering propaganda and presenting factual information about CPEC’s role and achievements.
This address highlights the considerable socio-economic changes in Pakistan since the launch of CPEC, reinforcing the project’s status as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economic growth and development.
