Karachi, January 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah sharing the daily COVID and Omicron variant situation said that 26 more cases of Omicron virus and 2,469 of COVID were detected and unfortunately 20 more patients died lifting the death toll to 7,785.
Omicron: In a statement issued here from CM House on Thursday, the CM said that 29 samples of Omicron were tested, of them 26 were detected as [Omicron] positive lifting the tally to 612.
COVID situation: Giving details of the daily report, the chief minister said that 20 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,785 that constituted 1.5 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 18,951 samples were tested which detected 2,469 cases that constituted 13 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 7,520,399 tests have been conducted against which 533,724 cases were diagnosed, of them 89.4 percent or 476,958 patients have recovered, including 485 overnight.
The CM said that currently 48,981 patients were under treatment, of them 48,505 were in home isolation, 36 at isolation centres and 440 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 391 patients was stated to be critical, including 26 shifted to ventilators.
According to the statement, out of 2,469 new cases, 1,652 have been detected from Karachi, including 527 from East, 513 South, 307 Central, 123 Korangi, 100 Malir and 82 West. Hyderabad has 413, Shaheed Benazirabad 39, Badin and Thatta 27 each, Sukkur 25, Larkana 23, Naushero Feroze and Tharparkar 22 each, Sujawal 21, Kashmore 19, Khairpur and Matiari 18 each, Ghotki and Tando Muhammad Khan 16 each, Shikarpur 12, Jacobabad and Umerkot 11 each, Jamshoro 7, Tando Allahyar 6, Kamber and Mirpurkhas 3 each, Sanghar 2 and Dadu 1.
Vaccination: Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 33,786,011 vaccinations have been administered upto January 25th, and added during the last 24 hours 186,446 vaccines were inoculated – in total 33,972,457 vaccines have administered which constituted 61.16 percent of the vaccine eligible population. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
