COVID-19 claims 21 more patients, infects 1,827 others

Karachi, August 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as 21 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 6,189 and 1,827 new cases emerged when 15,405 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Saturday. He added that 21 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 6,189 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 15,405 samples were tested which detected 1,827 cases that constituted 11.9 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 5,131,684 tests have been conducted against which 396,901 cases were diagnosed, of them 86.5 percent or 345,031 patients have recovered, including 996 overnight. The CM said that currently 47,508 patients were under treatment, of them 45,948 were in home isolation, 44 at isolation centres and 1,516 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 1338 patients was stated to be critical, including 107 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,827 new cases, 1288 have been detected from Karachi, including 418 from East, 293 Central, 262 South, 145 Malir, 86 Korangi and 84. Hyderabad has 162, Thatta 61, Matiari 32, Tharparkar 30, Mirpurkhas 22, Naushero Feroze 20, Badin, Umerkot and Sanghar 19 each, Kashmore and Tando Allahyar 17 each, Tando Muhammad Khan 16, Dadu and Khairpur 13 each, Sukkur 11, Shaheed Benazirabad 9, Ghotki 6, Jamshoro and Larkana 3 each, Jacobabad 2. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
