Court verdict on delimitation in IIOJK another black spot on pliant Indian judiciary

Srinagar, February 15, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, political experts and analysts have said that the recent verdict of Indian Supreme Court on delimitation exercise, described as gerrymandering in the civilized world, in the territory is yet another black spot on pliant Indian judiciary. The political experts and analysts in their statements and interviews in Srinagar said the Indian top court’s decision legitimizing farce delimitation in IIOJK reeks of a partisan approach towards the Kashmiris.

They said Modi regime is manipulating political factors in its favour in IIOJK in total disregard of the UN resolutions. They said the Indian judiciary’s biased verdict is meant to prepare ground to bring Hindu Chief Minister in Muslim-majority IIOJK. “Indian top court’s biased decision on delimitation exercise has further worsened the already grim situation in IIOJK. It has provided a favourable ground to the BJP for pre-poll rigging. Redrawing constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir was always meant to further stage-manage so-called assembly polls,” they added.

The political experts and analysts pointed out that the purpose of delimitation exercise right from the beginning was to curtail role of Muslim majority politics in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They said, the Modi regime wants to lend legitimacy to its 5 August 2019 illegal actions by getting majority in polls through bogus delimitation. The political experts and analysts maintained that reconfiguration of assembly constituencies is another step of colonizing IIOJK, adding that the delimitation in the territory is part of a series of measures started from 5 August 2019 to disempower the Kashmiris.
