Islamabad, November 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms. Ayesha Jamshed, Country Director Welt Hunger Helf (WHH) in Pakistan called on Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik in his office today. They discussed the various modes to address food security management system in view of recent floods and sustainable disaster mitigation models to protect vulnerable communities.

Ms. Ayesha highlighted WHH’s ongoing projects for cultivation of flooded land and cleaning of irrigation channels in flood-hit areas. She added that WHH also working on implementation of drought resilient techniques and educational programs for farmers on impact of excessive application of fertilizers and nutritional value of crops with collaboration of Provincial Governments.

Chairman NDMA acknowledged the WHH’s humanitarian interventions and catering the needs of in flood-ravaged areas and its support to build the resilience of agri-communities at frontline of the climate crisis. He emphasized on conducting the training programs for emergency responders and climate experts along with maintenance of their database for paid engagement of trainees in future during emergency. At the end, both mutually agreed to continue cooperation in building disaster resilience of communities through collaborative training programs and research.
