Islamabad, December 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms Romina Khurshid Alam welcomed Mr. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi and stated that we were privileged to have you in Pakistan. The Pakistan’s parliament was the first House in history to have a separate, apolitical SDG secretariat. She informed the delegation that we worked on the policies and development for the 169 goals and established SDG secretariat in each province. Pakistan would be more than happy to help Somalia in any way possible; we were already figuring out how to work together with Africa on shared problems and stand up for one another. Now is the time for mutual support.
Somalian delegation paid gratitude to Pakistan and its parliament for invitation and warm welcome, and reiterated that Somalia look forward to working with Pakistan and to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead for our two nations. They further said that we support the notion of establishing an SDG secretariat within the Parliament and improving this department’s standing also in Somalia.
The Federal Ministers of Somalia asserted that this visit would result in a wide range of positive outcomes and expressed a strong desire for Pakistan to enter the markets of the African region, particularly in the industries of textile, geology, fishing, and agriculture. They also expressed hope for the improvement of relations between the two countries.
